Would
some people in charge of the Catholic Church of
France be fond of torture ? |

(
Considering the importance of this topicality, it will soon be
translated into 3 foreign languages and sent to the people in
charge of the Catholic Church of more civilized countries
than FRANCE, so that they discover the turbid feelings which
some of their fellow members - supposed to speak to us about the
compassion and the mercy that Christ brought to us - may
experience ).
Would the
people in charge of the Catholic Church of France be fond of
torture ?
Would they
let themselves be fooled by the ardent bullfighting fans who
manage their official website ?
Or would
they make fun of their faithful ?
We publish below a new OPEN
LETTER TO POPE JOHN PAUL II, sent by the Collectif
Pour le Respect de l'Animal (COPRA) clearly
explaining their more than ambiguous
behaviour after the reactions of numerous faithful,
made indignant to find the praises of bullfighting, developed by
a chaplain of the arenas of Nîmes and "spread
out" on the official site of the Episcopal
Conference of France.
Whereas the media as well as
many personalities of great value, according to the position of
Spain itself, refuse this culture of
sadism, can it really be that our Church - which
should give the example, is heading in the wrong
"direction" as in the Middle Ages ?
The texts and pictures,
discovered on the Anti Bullfighting
Committee's website (CRAC) and that we publish at the
end of the Open Letter, do not leave any doubt about the responsibility
which falls on the Bishops of France, if instead of choosing to
protect our youth, they continue to
guarantee the ravings of
certain misled priests, by
simply "moving them" to another page of the site !
These characters, whom we
have much difficulty to call priests, so
much they soil their priesthood and Our God, do not have
a place in our Church !
We are on the other hand very
proud of those, increasingly numerous, who dissociate themselves
from such a culture of death by
adhering to the Charter of the Priest, friend of the animals,
which one finds on the site of the International Priestly
Fraternity For the Respect of the Animal :

Your Eminence :
We would be
very grateful to Your Eminence to be willing to transmit our
message as an open letter to His Holiness Pope John Paul II
after estimating the importance and severity of the following
facts.
In
the year 2004, the Catholic Church of France has made itself
an accomplice of organized animal torture by posting on its
website texts written by Father xxx speaking in
praise of bullfighting.
A lot of web
users, shocked by the support of the Episcopal
Conference of France (Conférence des Evêques de France :
C.E.F.) .) on Father xxx's first web page,
posted a fair number of letters and e-mails of protest to
Father xxx as well as to the various people in charge of
the C.E.F.
President Mgr Jean-Pierre Ricard
had successfully removed the page.
Unfortunately, the
publishing of Father xxx's second web page has been
sustained (see the enclosure printed on February
21st, 2005).
Father
xxx's pleasure in bullfighting probably only involves
himself, but the web hosting of
documents of propaganda for this kind of bloody spectacle of
brutal animal torture definitely involves the C.E.F. which is
normally responsible for the contents published via its web
servers !
Our letter to
the Vatican on October 12th, 2004 asking for the removal of

remains
without reply . Facing the continued online
publishing of this wicked text in keeping with the
presentation of the events and creations under the theme
"La Chair et Dieu" ("The Flesh and God"),
we decided to expose the little attention paid to
a drift making a common place of the shameless and sadistic
ill-treating of animals.
This drift
causes a considerable moral harm - notably to the youth, by
the praise of cruelty and violence
inflicted for pure pleasure on sentient
beings.
The
consequential effects on our human societies are confirmed to
be all the more worrying that a well
documented body of evidence reveals the reality of the link
between animal torture and the aggressive behaviour of a lot
of criminals and serial killers. Indeed, a lot of
them got their start during their childhood by exerting brutal
acts of cruelties towards defenceless animals.
Ignoring or
going beyond all that, Father xxx emphasizes that the
bullfighting culture is worthy of
every culture of that name and proudly
proclaims failure of censorship :
"It is
probably not without reason that since always, and today more
than ever, the bullfighting is inseparable from the
feast",
"the
bullfighting culture remains the bearer of something strong
for today's man. The feast of the bulls/toros, a spiritual
place ? That's rich !".
The previous
year already, it seemed to us that everything was done, not in
order to expose the bullfighting as a barbaric
practice unworthy of a human being, but in order to
let the web users read the praises of bullfighting and get the
most excellent image of it : the one of a practice
"worthy" of the culture and in perfect agreement
with Christian spirituality !
Perhaps could
we hope that Your Eminence would solicit His Holiness in order
to get his opinion and give the Church the means to :
-
cease
to accept the presence of his clerics in the arenas and
stop granting blessings where venality
and sadism reign supreme,
-
be diligent
in reacting promptly when a web space is knowingly
dedicated on an important Catholic web site to the
repeated hosting of pages making publicity for spectacles
of organized animal torture,
-
understand
the extremely disastrous consequential effects of its
obliging passivity to the organizers, the
actors and spectators of cruel and degrading
entertainments relying upon the
perverse pleasure of torturing sentient beings,
-
to break
its long lasting silence and
finally give its adherents the advice to no longer attend
bullfights, stop reinforcing the bullfighting lobby and
stop taking part in the growth of bullfighting.
We very highly
wish that the Roman Catholic Church officially
adopts an official position against bullfighting,
because we know that a lot of its ardent fans are
taking refuge behind this gap to avail themselves of the
religious support to promote their bloody
trade.
We thank you in

address of this page as the first result.
This web page, which sings the praises of bullfighting and is
hosted by
the Episcopal Conference of France, is exposed in this letter.

"The public of the
arenas cruelties is aging.
The actors of the bullfighting mafia are fully conscious of
that. By all means, they attempt to
attract children and youth in general , and this in
three manners :
First, children must find
it natural to torture an animal to death, just for pleasure.
One has to pervert the children's
judgement and sensitivity. The mundillo does not lack
in imagination : drawing contests
in the primary and nursery schools,
aggressive promotion in the colleges and high
schools, subject of study proposal to the students. And, of
course, not one word on the "other side" of
bullfighting, i.e. the
sad reality of an animal howling in pain
and full of fear asks us... WHY
?

But it is not sufficient,
and it is necessary that these children come and
directly attend the bullfighting horror : free
places for the 10 year old in Alès and elsewhere...
And during that time, the Spanish
Catalogne forbids the entrance to the arenas to the under 14's
(August 2003), and, moreover, the Generalitat
(equivalent to regional council) enforces
the respect of the law ! In September 2004, three
bullfights have been cancelled in Tarragona because the children
attempted a bullfighting ! France, barbaric
and retrograde country multiplies the bullfights and
during that time our neighbours are forbidding it !

At last, in good French, killers
and other murderers are necessary... And to be a
good torturer, respectful of the rules, it is
necessary to start young, very young.
Thus, there are schools of crime
in the South of France in which children learn, sometimes from
7 years old, to torture
calves with the white weapon... What
a shame for France...
